When asking our FEW members how they’re making a difference to help others, Felicity McAllister (FEW Senior Member) and Kassandra Hernandez (FEW Future Leader), both from IRESS, quickly responded with the challenging charity event in which they’re competing and raising funds - the Whitelion Three Peaks Challenge 2018.

We have been attending team training hikes (during the weekend ) as well as lunch-time stair climbing at Barangaroo in the lead up to the event, which have been challenging but rewarding to bond together. We have also enjoyed the team effort of the Sydney Three Peaks Team in fundraising for this event that has included many activities in selling smoothies, pancakes, waffles and even an internal Trivia Night this Friday (where we will have a guest speaker Adam Gibson from Whitelion) to promote awareness of the engagement programs that have improved the lives of the youth at risk.

IRESS Foundation partner Whitelion support underprivileged youth, for which we [Felicity and Kassandra] are proud to be participating in the Three Peaks Challenge in 2018 with our goal to raise over $40,000 for Whitelion.

What is it: climbing 3 peaks in 3 states in 33 hours

Who: IRESS has 31 participants from Sydney and Melbourne

When: 23-26 March

Where: We will be hiking Mt Tennent, Mt Kosciusko on day 1, sleeping on a bus for 6 or so hours with day 2 hiking Mt Bogong.

Whitelion is dedicated to opening up opportunities for disadvantaged young people. The Three Peaks Challenge is a great opportunity to support Whitelion’s work while being a role model to young people, as you take on the challenge side-by-side (from their website http://www.threepeakschallenge.com.au/)

We have been so grateful for the positive and overwhelming support or our peers in raising funds towards this deserving cause. But most importantly being able to ‘make a difference’ via our team effort to climb these mountains together with the youth; whom through our funding will support and hopefully they can get back on track.
